Conservatives are bellowing about the billions of dollars they will lose once the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) puts the lid on the damage they are allowed to do to the environment.
I say, “Kudos” to the EPA for their concern about our health and the health of the environment in which we live our lives every day.
Imagine the great clouds off poisonous smoke and gas that would escape from giant smoke stacks and pollute our towns and cities with their life-threatening smog if it were not for the EPA. How the Conservative greed mongers would love to dispense with that agency altogether!
The Conserva-Hogs are working feverishly to get all American Workers into Kimonos and to press them into 12-hour-daily shifts of servitude for a $5-a-day wage with no benefits as it is.
Now, if we could just do away with that profit-eating protective governmental agency, (Take your pick: OSHA, EPA, Health and Human Services, Education–etc.) we could see our pack of CEO pigs get even fatter yet off the corpses of the expendable Labor force.
Aren’t you glad now that there are a few Liberals in the mix to prevent these evil plans from going forward? (For the time being anyhow.)
American Conservative power elitist types are fretting over the imminent release of affordable health care package recommendations to the Health Care Industry. I have often wondered what it is that the Conservatives hate so much about affordable health care.
Do they simply prefer to get sick and not be able to afford their doctor visits, their prescription medications or their surgeries?
I know the conservative mindset is to maintain the status quo and to resist all forms of progressive change, but do they really advocate turning back the clock to country doctors and home care for the nominally and terminally ill among us? Do they imagine that sulphur and molasses is still the cure for every known human malady?
How grateful I am for a few Liberals out there who actually give a damned about whether I can cough up the cash to go to a doctor when I am sick and who have asked nothing more than that we all espouse our “Christian” ideal of helping to care for one-another through changes in our health care system!
I guess if the Conservatives had their way, we would witness a potential for mass graves to receive the remains of those indigent, poor and unemployed who perished for lack of affordable health care.
I have lived for a long time now an during all those years I have been constantly bombarded with the idea that the American Medical System is the best in the world. I have always asked myself, “What good is the best medicine in the world if no one can afford it?”
Thank God for a government who cares enough to want to lend a hand when help is needed. That is what government is all about, folks– people helping people…a nation united in good times and in bad and sharing it all together as one People.
Government is not about a group of puff bellied egotists sitting on top of the heap with their millions while everyone on the rungs of the ladder below them are left to shift for themselves in the face of every kind of calamity.
There are conservatives out there who are so angry at the fact that The Bush Administration built our national debt into an almost uncontrollable devouring monster that threatens the very fabric of the country they can barely see straight. They bemoan the fact that this massive debt is growing by leaps and bounds with every day that passes.
They absolutely refuse to admit that any of this great national indebtedness is their own doing.
All this debt does not seem to dampen their enthusiasm for cramming as much pork as they can stuff into every bill that comes before the Legislature now does it?
None of this encourages any of them to seek a roll back in their wages and perks, does it?
None of them seem to be the least bit willing to agree that America needs a revenue stream in order to operate and survive and that some of that revenue ought to be coming from those who have profited most from America, right?
No! It is like always! They want all the goodies for themselves and their rich friends and they want the rest of us to pay for it. (All of it!)
In my opinion, no one gets a freer ride on the backs of the Middle Class Taxpayers of America than the elites of The Conservative millionaires and billionaires.
It is the taxes of The Middle Class and all the other members of our Society below the millionaire class that allow them to enjoy their extravagant lifestyles.
They have earned nothing. Everything they have has been granted to them from the blood, sweat and tears of some average Main Street Joe or Jane working their tails off at some low-paying job with no benefits somewhere.
And they have the gall and the unmitigated audacity to demand even more of what is left to the masses. They are not satisfied with their obscene wealth– they want it all! They want the last crumb of bread out of the mouth of the weakest child of the parents at the lowest rung of the ladder.
The Conservatives literally defecate themselves over the fact that there are 50 million people on Medicare in America and that a few million more who could previously afford nothing might now be added to the roles.
I cannot say with enough emphasis how utterly glad I am that we have Medicare and Medicaid.
I know the Mortuary Industry may not be so thrilled with it, but those who need that kind of support get on their knees and cry out to God with thanksgiving every day they live on their at-least-halfway-affordable prescriptions.
If the Conservatives had their way, I am sure that the 10 million or so formerly happily employed workers in America would see their unemployment checks cease forever and never be heard from again.
I can say from experience with the Far Right Religious Extreme that many of them get some kind of perverse satisfaction from knowing that Working Class people are searching dumpsters for sandwiches discarded from fast food outlets.
Tell that poor struggling mother down the street who has three children to feed and no husband to provide for them or no job to earn wages with that there aren’t going to be any more WIC or food stamps because of the “Holy” “Christian” Family and Moral Values Conservative hypocrites who worked so hard to get rid of those despised government entitlement programs that “Steal” from “Honest Taxpayers.”
The conservatives are so concerned because America has 14 million unemployed workers. The conservatives scream long and loud about the fact that America has an unemployment rate exceeding 9 percent at any given time.
But whenever Conservatives get the opportunity, what do they do about unemployment?
They cut some government agency and throw thousands into the street.
They bust a teacher union or a police union or a fire protection union and they replace thousands of professionals with cheaper and less trained and less experienced scabs who are willing to work for a little more than nothing.
As long as I have lived I heard Conservatives yelling about “Jobs, jobs, jobs.”
But also as long as I have lived, I have yet to see any single program or law passed by conservatives that actually created jobs or got people back to work again. As far as I can tell and as far as I am concerned, Conservative “Jobs” programs are nothing but smoke and mirrors. They exist only in the imagination of some Conservative who might be trying to get elected to some office somewhere.
The Conservatives are very loud about the low approval ratings of our President and Congress.
But they are as busy as they are loud doing everything in their collective power to obstruct, delay, inhibit and prevent anything our President or Congress tries to do to help America because their single, over-riding, all-consuming and publicly stated goal is narrow-minded and shallow and propelled by hatred and envy.
That goal, which they have had the witless audacity to proclaim in front of national TV cameras is to make sure that Obama is a one term President.
That, my friends, is the length and the depth and the breadth of anything the Conservatives have, in their total air -headedness, to offer The American People. There is nothing else but promises, lies, deceits, treacheries and utter failures.
Those are the hallmarks of contemporary American Conservatism.
The black hole of the future will be created, perpetuated and sustained by the mindless greed of callous and hypocritical Conservatism unless sanity prevails and Democrats, Liberals and Progressives are once again given the mandate to return America to the Glory Days of Her former prosperity and unity.
Away then with Red States and Blue States.
Give me back my beloved “United” States.
Away then with The party of No, nonsense and nothing.
Give me back our Congress who sits down and hammers out agreements with compromise and common sense.
Away with corporate elitism and the disparity of classes.
Give me back an America where the rich can get richer and the poor man has a chance to raise himself out of poverty through hard, honest toil like he once could on these hallowed shores.
Give me back my America where my Conservative neighbor and I could actually be friends and help each other out when the need arises.
Give me back my America where the Fourth of July is as joyous to one as it is for all and where there is a little bit of Christmas in the hearts of every citizen instead of just a few.
If nothing else, just give me back America, period!
This thing that The Far Right Wing Extremest Conservatives are trying to build isn’t pretty and it isn’t nice and I hate it! It is ugly and hateful and nasty and selfish and mean spirited. I wasn’t raised that way. I was raised with a heart filled with compassion for my fellow man and I think my government ought to care enough of all citizens to insure that everyone is given a chance to succeed an survive even if all of us have to dig a little deeper to make it happen.
