Reports that I have been reading are saying that Republican Front Running Presumptive Nominee Mitt Romney has publicly repudiated what has been described as a “Racially Tinged” attack campaign against President Obama—a campaign that has nothing to do with The Romney Campaign, but one which was reportedly put together by an independent group of political operatives to the tune of some $10 Million Dollars.
This report is said to have been published in the prestigious New York Times.
The negative campaign that I am talking about here reportedly involves an attempt to resurrect some of the old accusations against President Obama in connection to some of the things that a former pastor, one Jeremiah Wright may have said publicly—things that got a lot of play in the press awhile back and things which the avowed opponents of President Obama seemed to delight in running over and over again.
It has been suggested that the planned attack campaign which was to have been aimed at the Obama Camp was possibly the work of some Super Political Action Committee, but apparently since the news about the plan was published (Is it a matter that someone got caught in the act of trying something?) it seems that anyone and everyone who might have been perceived by anyone to have been associated in any way with the smear tactic is backing away from it and distancing themselves about as fast as is humanly possible.
It appears that no one interested in the business of campaigning for the Presidency has any desire whatever to be seen as involving themselves with the specter of “Racism” and some reports are also suggesting that the proposed attack campaign had been designed with some definite racial focus.
Now it seems that everyone wants to distance themselves as far as they can get from any campaign that might have a racial focus of any kind.
It is good, in my view, that this thing got exposed before it could be launched to do it’s awful work.
I am pleased that those campaigning for the highest office in the land have made their positions clear on this matter and in my view they are to be commended for their proclaimed positions as concerns these news reports. The Repudiation of this kind of tactic is, in my view, the only acceptable outcome.
Maybe some forms of “Dirty Politics” are just “Too Much” and would be seen as having more of a detrimental effect on any campaign—I think the American People are kind of tired of all the “Attack Ad Trash Talk” since they were exposed to so much of it during the recent Presidential Debate Series which was widely televised and published in all kinds of media.
I see this Repudiation as a good thing.
I do not see a Republican win in November as a good thing,(Because I am a Democrat and an Obama Supporter) but I am pleased that those currently involved in the campaigns to wrest the Presidency away from The Democrats have exhibited the good taste of publicly repudiating these very negative campaign tactics.
There is more on this story to be found at Huffington Post which I have linked to below:

It’s nice to see that Romney has taken the high road on this one and not dived straight into the mud slinging. However, I suspect this will be short lived as he had no issues candidate bashing during the Republican primaries.
My own feeling are that there will be a lot of mud slinging between now and November by both sides. Why?
Simply put Obamma can not under any circumstances run on his record, at least not if he has even the faintest hope of re-election. The reality is that his first term was a disaster, every economic indicator that needed to go up, went down, and every one that needed to go down went up. What’s this leave the poor schmoe? He has no choice but to fight the battle on how bad his opponent will be in office, he will need to pull out all stops to vilify Romney and the Republicans. So get ready, it will be dirty.
Although based on their early efforts Team Obummer doesn’t appear to be having much luck, the efforts to paint Romney as cruel because he strapped his dog Seamus’s kennel to the roof of his car didn’t work out so well when it was leaked that the Prez admitted to actually eating dog meat.I found this quite telling of where the election is headed. The entire country is headed for the brink of economic disaster and the media worries who loves animals more.
As well, the attack on Ann Romney by Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen left egg on a lot of faces, with long time Democrat friends scurrying to deny any affiliation with Hilary. Kind of hard to do when she has been invited into the White house literally dozens of times. Remind me, which party is being accused of conducting a “war on women”.
Quite frankly maybe Obama knows something the rest of the country doesn’t, another term of his “leadership” and most Americans may be happy to get the occasional scrap of dog meat in their diet. I imagine it beats an empty belly.
