Clerodendrum thomsoniae

This Flowering beauty, known commonly as ‘The Bleeding Heart Vine,’ is a member of the Verbenaceae plant family and is indigenous to the tropical regions of West Africa.

Featuring white flowers that contain red lobed corollas that grow in cymes of 8-20 flowers together, the Bleeding Heart’s vines can grow up to a whopping 4 meters long!

This popular ornamental plant can either be rooted a vine or as a beautiful hanging plant that will spice up any room! The vine is a long, woody stem that is rooted in dirt at ground level, and then commonly clings to trees or other nearby objects(lattice!) to climb up to more well lit areas, as the Bleeding Heart Vine does demand a significant amount of sunlight to bloom.

Make sure to give it lots of sunlight, water regularly and watch out for various leaching insects such as mealybugs or spites, and you can enjoy the beautiful blooms of this flower in your own home or garden this summer!
