John Liming - The Liming Liberal Democrat

Does U.S. Gov’t Fund Discrimination?

The following is My Political Opinion:

The iconic Boy Scouts of America Organization has been reported to have declared they will stand by their Anti-Gay policies despite all protests from some activist groups and that the decision is reported to have come about as the result of what has been called an extensive internal “Review.”

O.K., I find no argument with the Boy Scout organization sticking to their guns on this controversial issue because as many a tight-bottomed Rightie has already got into my face and told me, “It is a private organization after all.”  To me this means that it is not a “Public” organization.  Correct me if I am wrong.

So my current problem becomes a question in itself: “If the Boy Scouts of America is a “Private” thing, then why would it hold a charter from The Government of The United States and does it actually receive some funding from the government or any of it’s agencies?”

My next question is, “If they do receive any funds from Taxpayers, then why do they?”

In my opinion they can make all the pronouncements against people’s choice of lifestyles that they care to make as a “Private” organization, but if they are, in fact, receiving government support then I think that is a horse of a different color.

I have even heard that this bunch gets money from The United States Department of Defense and that The President of The United States acts as Honorary President of the group as well.

Can any of that be true?

As an American Taxpayer and a Christian and a Citizen, I find this to be totally unacceptable and yes, even offensive (To me) given the present  reported posture of the group in what I believe to be a discriminatory attitude toward people of a certain orientation.

John Liming - The Liming Liberal Democrat

An American Man, born in 1938 and a Veteran of The U.S. Military. I served honorably in The United States Army (National Guard) and The United States Air Force for a total of seven years and three months active duty during what is now known as The Vietnam Era. My passion is political observation and commentary. My intention is to discuss and debate the extreme conservative ideology that is hurting The People of this Great Country. I will examine the reasons why our beloved America has become so politically divided over the past few years and provide illuminating insight into why I believe this is exactly the agenda of The "Christian" Conservative Right. Written in my own words of course, and strictly my opinion...
