MY OPINION
When the discussion comes up about placing any kind of control on the sale, manufacture and distribution of lethal firearms in The United States, the Fringe Right goes bananas and starts screaming about Second Amendment Rights.
The one thing I believe the Far Righties are going to fight tooth and nail to the death for is the right for anyone and everyone – - – sane or crazy – - – to buy as many guns and as big guns and as many thousands of rounds of killer ammunition as can be bought without any “Gubmint” regulation, oversight or control whatsoever so help me God!
It doesn’t seem to matter how many Columbines, Virginia Techs or Colorados it might take – - – “They” are going to keep their hands off Rightie’s Second Amendment rights and “They” are going to keep their hands off “Our Guns” and Big Money and the special interests are going to continue to control the conversation about guns in the United States at any cost it seems to me.
Now along comes the 15th and the 19th Amendments – - – does anybody remember those? These are the amendments to The Constitution that guarantee American Voters the right to vote in case anybody might have forgotten – - – which it appears that many Righties have done for some strange reason.
There sure doesn’t seem to be much hesitation on the part of some Far Right Wing Fringe kooks to try and annul these two amendments with their Voter ID Laws to suppress potential opposition votes does there?
So my question becomes, “Why are the Righties so seemingly insanely intent on protecting Americans from what has been proven to be virtually non-existent voter fraud by trying to disenfranchise millions of potentially Democrat Voters with Voter Suppression Tactics and yet so intent on trying to arm the whole population with all kinds of dangerous lethal weapons?
Why all the seemingly selective protection of portions of The Constitution by some of those who are supposed to be the most protective of The whole Constitution?
Is it the same syndrome that seems to apply to some of those instances where some Righties appear to select certain portions of the Scripture (While apparently rejecting others) in order to justify what often turns out to be religious bigotry and hatred against everyone and everything that does not become a clone of themselves?
