I don’t know whether to label this blog post as an “Ah Ha” moment or an “I Told You So” moment—but one thing is patently clear to me…this post definitely represents a Right Wing-Defining moment—in my opinion!
Reports are circulating that our Conservative-Dominated United States Supreme Court has taken certain action to limit protections guaranteed by The Constitution in regards to “Double Jeopardy” in certain criminal proceedings.
My question: “So what is the big surprise here? What would anybody expect but that a “Conservative” (Right Wing) Court would do anything else but take steps to weaken a Constitutional protection? Is that supposed to be some kind of big surprise or something?
It might be up for argument as to what the intent of The Right Wing really is for America, but I have my own ideas about it and that is why I blog.
I would go so far as to suggest that as (And if) Right Wingers consolidate more and more power over the daily lives of American Citizens, we will see a lot more attempts at “Weakening” of the provisions of The Constitution because I am of the opinion that many of them may have a secret agenda to re-write it entirely over a period of time— to suit their own Conservative aims.
Wouldn’t surprise me in the least!
There are already reportedly a whole host of malcontents out there who have been brainwashed into believing that the government does not go by the Constitution any more and there are reported to be a whole slew of Constitutional “Experts” who seem to be Heck Bent on re-interpreting the Sacred Document to make it align more closely to some vague and ill-defined notion of what the Original Founders “Intended” when they wrote it way back when.
As I see it, there are only two possibilities of what may be happening with Conservative meddling with the language and intent of The Constitution:
(1) They want The Constitution to parrot and validate their own vision of what life in America should be.
(2) They mistakenly believe they can turn back the clock and read the minds of the Founders who have been at rest in their graves for all these many years since a condition that I like to refer to as “Corn-Cob-Topia” represented Life on the Continent. (Back when America was a simplistic and Agrarian Country where formal education was not a requisite for survival—a tradition which, again in my opinion, seems to be what the Extreme Right wishes to resurrect and perpetuate for all of us.)
Whatever is happening with the apparent weakening of our Constitution I can only believe that if America doesn’t wake up, it won’t be long before those who bore from within against our traditions and values from the Far Right Extremes will have transformed this nation into something totally unrecognizable.
You want to know what I really think?
I think that if we are not careful who we vote into office, the Right Wing Extremeists will eventually suppress enough votes and re-district enough precincts that the “Land of The Free” will become “The Land Of Freedom To Do Exactly As The Elite Right Wing Ruling Class Tells Us To Do.”
I think the whole thing can be simplified in the following manner: (A) If you want to get someone to swallow your religious beliefs, you write your own version of a “Study Bible.” (B) You want to get a whole country to cowtow to your ideology, you write your own version of the Constitution and convince enough people that is how it was written to begin with.
