Phoenix - Writing From The Ashes

Holidays, a virus, and sore ribs

The good & the bad

I’m almost surprised it has been over a month since my last post.  The time has passed so quickly.  As usual there has been lots of highs and lows during that time.

After my last post I did the spring clean of my writing room and then headed to New South Wales with my family for a couple of days R & R in one of the most relaxing places I know.  Returning home I had two days back at work and then took a mystery flight I had been given for my birthday last year.

I had an awesome time away by myself and I came home intending to write a few posts to share my experience with everyone.  My intentions, however, were side-swiped by a virus that had me bed-ridden for just over a week.

I was just recovering from the virus when my daughter and I went to visit my mother and step-father who were holidaying on the Gold Coast.  After having fish and chips on their apartment’s balcony, my daughter and I decided to do some sightseeing before we headed back to Brisbane.

Three blocks from where we had left my parents we had a car accident.

We spent the rest of the night at the hospital and I have been barely able to move since then.  Sitting at the computer has been impossible until now, so I have not written anything for weeks.

I’m not sure how much longer it will be until I am 100% pain-free, but I am alive and my daughter is uninjured so that is the most important thing.  The car is a write-off and I have no idea what is going to happen about getting another one at this time, but I’m sure everything will work out as it is meant to.

As I become able to write for longer periods of time, I will write about my fantastic trip and hopefully get some photos uploaded as well.

Phoenix - Writing From The Ashes

I am an aspiring writer. I would give anything to be able to write full-time, but at the moment the bills need to be paid, we need a roof over our heads, and we need to eat, so writing is something I do in my ‘spare time’. I created Writing From The Ashes as an outlet for my short stories. A tortured childhood, dysfunctional family, and the everyday bumps on this journey called life provide plenty of inspiration for my stories. Some are dark. Some are light. But hopefully they are all an enjoyable read.
