U.S. Sending Millions Of Dollars To Somalia For Famine Relief?

I JUST SUGGEST THAT NO ONE BOARD THEIR YACHTS AND TRY TO DELIVER ANY ASSISTANCE TO SOMALIA IN PERSON.
(WITHOUT A FULL NAVAL ESCORT, THAT IS!)
One Man’s Opinion
By John Richard Liming
The news that I have been hearing is that there is a horrific famine in Somalia, East Africa right now and, according to some reports filtering back in here, thousands of children are in danger of dying from hunger in that stricken place. There are reported to be several refugee camps there already filling up with desperately hungry Somalis.
I have also heard reports that Uncle Sam is preparing to shell out as much as a Hundred Millions Dollars in relief funds for that desperate country and, of course, this would be “The Christian Thing To Do.”
I am assuming that this Hundred Million Dollars will be paid by The American Tax Payer, is that correct?
This act of supreme Christian generosity on behalf of The American People is being done during a severe recessionary downtown here at home, so the magnitude of the generosity should be compounded by the fact that America does not seem to have all that much extra money lying about and there are plenty of people here at home who could also use a hand as they try to stretch their meager Social Security Checks to buy good and medicine for another month or so, right?
But America is and always has been a very helpful nation when others are in distress. So, I guess we all can dig a little deeper into our quickly emptying pockets and send a Hundred Million Dollars to Somalia for famine relief. I think if we are going to do this humanitarian act, we had better be getting on the ball before our recession gets any worse than it is.
While the United States is doing its “Christian” duty to help the folks in Somalia, I am of the opinion that the U.S. probably ought to be giving some consideration to calling some of its own I.O.Us from others we have helped during the past decades. I am sure that most of those countries are just chomping at the bit to come to our aid during this time of economic uncertainty, aren’t you?
America may be approaching the point where She cannot much afford to be “Santa Claus” and “Police Force” to the World. That is the way I see things shaping up anyway.
As a side note, might I mention here that it has only been a few months (If that long) since four American Citizens were murdered in cold blood while U.S. Military Forces were trying to negotiate for their release from some Somali Pirates.
I have read somewhere in the prestigious “Christian Science Monitor”that some of these Somali Pirates have boasted of their intent to “Mutilate The Bodies” of some of their captives. I think you can find that story in The Christian Science Monitor edition of August 8th, 2011 under a heading entitled, “World/Africa.”
As we look closer at this region of the world where we are reportedly contemplating sending that Hundred Million Dollars in aid, we should remember that a lot of people are questioning whether Somalia might be a radical Islamist state.
It is said in some circles that since their civil war ended about 20 years ago, large parts of Somalia are under control of the Harakat Al-Shebaab Al-Mujahidin Movement which is reported to be Al-Quaida’s East African Franchise.
It is further being reported that Somalia may be fast becoming a radicalized Islamist state, complete with Shariah Law.
If you want to read up on all that stuff, you might wish to enter “In Depth Africa” into your browser search and when the newspaper of that same name comes up, you might want to continue on to “Somalia: An Islamist State” and read some of the claims and allegations there for yourself.
I do not know, but I must assume that the infamous Somali Pirates must be filthy rich by now and should, most likely, preparing their own aid package for their desperate fellow citizens, right?
I have read some reports that some of the resident Somali Islamist-Jihadists have been stealing food sent as aid to the country and selling it on the black market.
I hope that if I ever get down and out, someone will throw a few hundred millions dollars in the pot to help me out too.
What do you think, folks?
