I remember the time not so long ago when America had a Radical Conservative Government for Eight long years and I do not really want to live under that kind of craziness again.
It all began in 2000 and then, for some unknown reason, we became the laughing stock of the world when we elected the same bunch for another 4 years – - – There were comments from all over the world how other people in other nations couldn’t understand how this happened and what a bad idea everyone thought it was at the time.
The Bill for that fiasco did not really start to come due until about the time President Obama took office – - – but then the damage done to the Economy began to pay it’s evil little dividends and we plunged into the worst recession in a long long time and, according to many reputable non-revisionist experts, we will not be completely out of the woods on that one for perhaps generations yet to come.
That period of History to which I refer is the time when 911 happened, the Twin Towers fell, The Pentagon got slammed by terrorists and the whole country seemed to go into some kind of freaky paranoid state where it felt like terrorists were hiding under every rock and living in every little Suburban American neighborhood and where the entrenched fear-mongering Right Wing government just seemed to love to fan the flames of paranoia.
As anyone living now might recall, those were also the days when Nationalism ran so high in this country and Patriotism became such a propaganda tool of the regime that some citizens and even some government officials were loathe to utter a negative word against the Rulers and Leaders because of the fear of being branded as “Un-American, Un-Patriotic and even Traitorous.
The Reichtist pundits were fully present on all available media to push the idea that anybody who opposed any of the outrageous things the administration was doing or was proposing to do were either traitors or were working to give advantage to the ever-present, ever-growing, ever-invisible enemies of America.
And so America went to war looking for the famous WMDs that no one ever quite succeeded in finding.
In my opinion, we basically got into two wars on foreign soil for no real reason except that somehow in some body’s mind, the primitive, poorly-equipped insurgents in the desert posed an immediate and dire threat to the safety of citizens on American Soil. That is the way I understood it at least until I found out that there are enormous oil reserves in some of those desert areas and then another picture began to form in my mind altogether – - – a somewhat different picture than the one the government had been painting.
Those were the days when our newly-elected “Decider” started issuing Executive Orders like they were going out of style and one such as myself began to wonder how it was that this guy had been more or less “Crowned” President by The Supreme Court when no one could seem to decide if he had actually been elected by vote of the People anyway.
Remember all that confusion about the vote tally and all those “Hanging Chads” that we kept hearing about? It got the point where I began to wonder if the winner of the Presidency was ever going to be announced after all that stuff that was going on and it all seemed to hinge on whatever was decided in Florida.
Those were the days when the fear of Terrorists under every rock and outside every bedroom window resulted in something called The Patriot Act and then everyone got all this paranoia about the government hacking their telephone calls or about cameras on every lamp post watching every move that was made and a whole lot of crazy stuff like all that.
It felt kind of like the whole country had gone a little bonkers back then and now I hear that the Republicans want to “Take America Back” (Back to what?) again.
I sure hope they are not hoping to repeat some of the things that went on during those times. If they do, and if they get their wish, I think we are all going to be in for it – - – I think that if they grab control of Government again in 2012, this recession that we are enduring right now will be a cake walk compared to what is coming down the road.
I am hearing all the talk from the Liberals on the Internet and everywhere about how Republican Presidential Contender Mitt Romney has this 59-point Plan for getting America back on track and that this 59-pointer amounts to nothing more than some more more refined policies of that era gone by - – - but on steroids this time. I don’t know much about all that because I haven’t studied this 59 point plan. In fact, I don’t know anybody who has actually seen it or read it or knows much more about it than I do.
I have watched all the Republican Candidates all through those televised circus side shows that were labeled as “Presidential Debates” where the entire emphasis seemed to be more on the candidates slamming each other than they were about addressing issues that might be important to the People of The United States and I thought to myself, “Well that is typical of some areas of Conservatism – - – there is nothing new in that.” But of course that is my opinion. I am not particularly fond of Right Wing politics as most people should know now if they read my blogs at all.
There are some really scary things on the Internet here and there written by people who claim to be Conservatives that are absolutely frightful if you think about what they are saying sometimes.
This one outfit is telling whoever will listen that Liberalism, Democrats and Progressives in America met their ultimate fate in the defeat they suffered in the recent Wisconsin Recall election— the one where Governor Walker retained his gubernatorial position in spite of a really determined Liberal effort to unseat him. The Repugs are all over that one, their bellies all puffed out, strutting around like proud roosters in a barnyard and bragging about how that little “Victory” in Wisconsin is the death knell for American Liberalism and a lot more crazy garbage that only some who are seriously myth-informed might come up with.
Yeah that episode up in Wisconsin where in my personal opinion the voters made choices against their own best interests is really being played up big by the Reichties.
I think their adrenaline is really pumping on that one. I have never seen them so cocky and arrogant and – - – sometimes just plain nasty as they have gotten since that occurrence.
Some of their trolls get onto my blogs and rant and rail about how stupid and uninformed I am and how everything I write is slanted to the Left and is nothing but opinion and has no factual basis and all the rest of that drivel that angry Reichties are able to come up with – - – I think they actually get off on being Super Obtuse sometimes — and then I turn the page on the Internet and read some of their blogs and find out that they can be a lot more nasty toward Liberals than I could have ever thought of being on my blogs. (My opinion strictly). I think to myself, “What absolute hypocrites some of these obstructionist intransigents can be sometimes! The very nerve!”
But I don’t think I am ever going to live long enough to see many of them change because (1) Leopards cannot change their spots as the old saying goes and (2) Many of them seem so brainwashed and locked into their thinking that as far as I am concerned very few of them could ever originate a real thought anyway and if they did manage to come up with one it would make sense only to someone on the same wave length as they are – - – definitely “Out There Somewhere.” That’s how it looks to me. That is my opinion for what it is worth.
It doesn’t feel all that good to me to live in what someone once called “A Divided Nation.”
The words of Sarah Palin keep haunting me when she was taking about “Real” Americans in a speech some time ago.
When I first heard this I got the immediate impression that there must be some Conservative types out there in the hinterlands somewhere who actually believe that the only “Real” American is one who follows after the failed policies of The Political Right and that all the rest of us are somehow Un-American or something. That is how it felt to me then and I am feeling more of that today as the Reichtie Rhetoric heats up against Liberals once again.
It all reminds me of a bunch of barking dogs who make a lot of noise but who really don’t have all that much to say and a lot of it is simply not worth listening to.
But it looks like they are hopped up on themselves and full of themselves so I say “Let ‘em have at it.”
They might win the Presidency away from Obama in 2012 but I feel like if they do we are all in for one heckuva rough time of it because in my opinion they are going to try to dismantle almost everything that The Middle Class, The lower-earners and the Poor (Most of the country, by the way) have come to need, want and expect from government – - – especially the critically important Social Safety Net Programs that help millions of people who are not part of the wealthiest 1% of the population keep their heads above financial waters on a day-to-day basis.
But I am beginning to think that for some reason, American Voters might be feeling the need for a little pain and suffering on top of what they are already experiencing and just might go off the cliff and vote “Them” in again.
It happens every few years, you know – - – kind of like how the Lemmings choose one particular time in their life cycle to run over the edges of high cliffs. It may be hidden deep somewhere in the American psyche that every few years the country needs the kind of whip and lash that only Radical Conservatism can administer.
Time will tell.

I am so glad to see there are others that the corprate media has not brain washed into voting for the top 1% interests. I know if the Republicans take control of the Senate or the Presidency they will raise the retirement age on Social Security and cut benifits to medicare and medicaid. They will not raise taxes on the rich, who gives them all their money to get elected. I have always said for a working man to vote Republican is like the chickens voting for Colonel Sanders. Keep up the good work.
