Republicans, Conservatives and Right Wingers can complain until they are blue in the face about how Government has failed to do the job that Private Financial Aid could do better and it won’t change a single fact.
I have been “Down and Out” and on the streets with nothing in my pocket and nowhere to go. I have personally experienced hunger and deprivation and I have had personal experience with most of the Private Financial Aid resources available and I can tell you, without batting an eye, there is no way that Private Financial Aid is ever going to come near to being able to do the job or find the resources that are needed to get the job done. Period!
Conservatism loves to roar like a devouring lion about how “Government Assistance” programs ought to be replaced by community resources such as “Neighborhood Groups,” Churches and “Private Charities” and the good will of just “Plain Ordinary “Christian-Minded” souls.
Whenever I had occasion to confront a “Good Christian Soul” about the need for food or something, I usually got the old stare of intense disapproval along with some admonition like, “Why don’t you just stop bumming and get a job or something?”
Then the “Good Christian Souls” always promised to “Pray Fer Me” but they rarely had anything to “Give” to me because, as a few of them were quick to remind me, “I worked for what I got and nobody ever gave me nothing.”
That kind of treatment at the hands of “Good Christian Souls” usually left me feeling like some kind of despicable trash, some worthless fool or a useless bum at best.
I can tell you that “Good Christian Souls” are never going to get the job done.
And, furthermore– after listening to the “Good Christian Souls” of Conservatism who have taken to describing the Occupy Wall Street People as “Filthy, Unwashed, Dirty, shiftless, lazy, no-good-for-nothing, Communist, Socialist, Hippie Nazis who want something for nothing at the expense of “Honest Taxpayers,” I am more convinced than ever that Conservatism’s claim about “Private Aid” are totally bogus!
Totally bogus!!!
As for the Radical Right Wing argument that Private Assistance Resources have a better chance of success in helping needy people become self-sufficient and independent again: I know of no statistics that prove or disprove that theory, but I can say from my own experiences that it was, indeed, a Government Program that got me back onto my feet and not some stingy, selfish religious-oriented “Private Charity.”
The Government Program that saved my useless rear end was “The Comprehensive Employment Training Act” that was going on sometime around the year 1981.
This Government program opened access to kindly individuals who were prone to take me out for tacos, hooked me up with a couple of nice suits for interviews, trained me in job search and interview techniques and ended up getting me a great job in a nice factory at a decent wage and I stuck with it for 19 years and came out smelling like a rose.
It didn’t cost me a cent and I didn’t have to pretend to convert to some crazy interpretation of someones little religious fantasy in order to get the assistance. It was a Government Program and it saved my miserable butt and breathed new life into me again after I had destroyed my previous life through some stupid things I did and paid for.
There are some misguided fools who will argue that Private Aid Resources do a better job of distributing the food and the clothing and the personal assistance than some Government Bureaucracy can.
To that I say, BS! Hogwash! Cow Manure!
I have seen food from “Private Aid” resources being bartered for cigarettes, beer and even dope in certain neighborhoods in my lifetime and I have seen a lot of favoritism being shown by some of those responsible for distributing such assistance. The Conservative argument that Private Aid is oh so much better than any government program is just plain total crap!
Conservatism’s “Fix” for the evils of Government Hand Out Programs seems to be “Reform” such things as what they call “Entitlement Programs” and eliminate the “Welfare State.”
I think what they are really after are the vast resources of The Social Security reserve and all the extra millions that could be squeezed out of Medicare, Medicaid and all other assistance programs– including Pell Grants and Educational Aid of all kinds–Home Loan Programs– you name it!
All those extra millions of dollars “Saved” by sticking it to the beneficiaries of Government Assistance Programs would go a long way in making the rich even richer than they are through more and bigger tax breaks and other “Incentives” that Right Wing Extremists seem to love so much.
They are not fooling me with their continual “Reform The Government Bureaucracy BS.” I think I know what they are after. In my heart, I feel they want nothing less than to create a situation in America where there is no one left except the filthy rich and the desperately poor who will be expected to become willing serfs to the rich.
And I believe that if they finally achieve this miserable state of affairs, it will all have been done in the name of their precious “Gawd” who they call by the Name, “Gee-Zuss” and who I call by the Name, “Mammon.”
Conservatism seems to be always worried about “Sustaining” the needed assistance programs for “Future Generations.” I am more of the opinion that their real intent is more like getting rid of all assistance programs altogether and pocketing the profits from the various “Reforms” that would eventually destroy all such assistance programs completely, finally and forever.
This is kind of hypocritical (In my playbook) and absolutely destroys any credible Conservative argument about not wanting to leave an insurmountable debt for taxpayers in the future. I think they have already demonstrated the absolute truth about their real intentions when they ran up the greatest national debt in the History of the country from 2000 to 2008.
Smoke and Mirrors! That is what the argument of contemporary Radical Conservatism is when it comes to Government Assistance Programs, Financial Responsibility and the need to be saving for the sake of future generations.
I will never personally be convinced that Radical Conservatism has any other agenda than to grab all they can, while they can and to let everyone else enjoy the intensity of “Personal Freedom” that goes along with fending for ones self.
I think that when Radical Conservatism speaks of “Independence From Government Interference In Individual Lives” they are really telling us that they want everyone to be cut loose to get by any way they can.
Grow your own garden, hunt your own meat, grow the trees with which you will build your home. These are the “Values” that I think Conservatism wants to stick America with– the old ways–those tried and true means and methods that got the generations of long ago through all their challenges.
I think Radical Conservatism wants to take us back to the days before flush toilets and microwave ovens. But that is just me, folks. Don’t listen to anything I have to say. I am nothing but one of those Godless Liberals you often hear about on some of the more Extreme Right Wing Talk Radio presentations.
I cannot fathom the depth and breadth of human suffering that would happen here in The United States if Conservatism were to get it’s way about Government Assistance Programs. If there were suddenly only Private Financial Aid, guess what the outcome might most likely be?
It would, in my view, be a complete disaster and a humanitarian crisis beyond all possible nightmares.
Of course, as always– all this is nothing more than my personal political opinions.”
