Opinions by John R. Liming
In all The history of The United States of America, the Democrats and Liberals and Progressives have been elected more often and for longer periods of time than any conservative can even imagine.
In that history (Which some Conservatives are feverishly trying to revise– particularly some textbook publishers in Texas and some Right Wing pundits who have been writing books of late) Conservative administrations have been notorious failures in almost everything they have proposed or attempted to do.
They have preached about tightening up on national spending but, in practice, have squandered billions more than their Democrat counterparts.
The Republicans always preach about smaller government but when they get the power it seems they go on binges to see how big they can build the government structure.
The Bush Administration outdid itself in expanding government and government control and influence over individual Citizens lives. Civil Liberties kind of flew out the window during that one despite the stated goals of Conservatives to expand Freedoms and Liberties.
I guess when it comes right down to it, the only real reason the Republican party even exists at all is to make The Democrats look good— which is exactly what they do every time they put their feet in their mouths. (Which is very often indeed.)
Republicans and Conservatives can manipulate figures and myth-construe facts for short time spans, but when one looks at their actions over the longer haul, glaring deficiencies in what they say and what they accomplish are their main distinguishing features.
Figures do not lie. Republicans and Conservative types may stretch the truth to make themselves look knowledgeable or effective or able, but when the figures are laid on the table, the fantasy world they have created for themselves and their constituents comes tumbling down.
In the 1980s, during the administration of Mr. Reagan, The Religious Right Radical Extreme got into the business of politics, kidnapping Jesus off the Cross and stuffing him into the voting area so that He could rouse the rabble and wave the Flag a little for the sake of partisanship and profit.
Churches stopped being sanctuaries for sin-beleaguered souls and started becoming surrogate headquarters for the Far Right Wing Extremeist parties and their associates. Sermons went from sin and salvation to “If you don’t vote Republican you cannot take communion and you certainly will go to Hell.”
It became obvious in just a little while to all but the most mindless observer that the goal of The New Right was to replace The Constitution with their own revision which would, no doubt, draw heavily on King James scriptures and to do completely away with the “Old Democratic America” and replace Her with a Theocratic Republic for the Glory of Gawd and The New Rightists— what I call “The Reicht.”
The old Republican Guard (The Moderates) have, in my opinion, been totally supplanted now by a new breed of Religious Fanatic that takes Right Wing Ideologies to the very brink of becoming neo-Fascist.
Democrats, on the other hand, seem to have shown a singular propensity for arguing loudly against the encroachments of The Republicans but who, for a reason known only to God, seem to have ended up agreeing with their adversaries quickly whilst they were in the way with them– in a manner of speaking.
My opinion of the current situation in Washington is that Democrats make great speeches, but they always seem to end up doing exactly what Republicans wanted all along.
I have gotten to the point lately where I wonder why we even need a Democratic party anymore. The Republicans have been running the country by obstructionism and by conning the Democrats into caving in to them ever since The New Era of Hope and Change was introduced.
I don’t know where all this is going to take the nation, but I have an idea that somewhere along the line, someone is going to start yelling about the need for a third party again.
I am fairly certain that the third party will not be the Tea Lickers because they have already shot their wad with the voting public through their willingness to hold America Hostage with the debt ceiling thing. (Not to mention their many pronouncements and insinuations about the need for an armed insurrection and a bloody revolution to get things changed.)
When one examines the record of the contemporary bunch of Conservatives in Washington, one can quickly draw the conclusion that this bunch is far too cold-hearted and ruthless for the ultimate good of America.
In my opinion, they are far too willing to sell The Middle Class and others down the toilet for their own political advantage and for the sake of their rich corporate friends.
The Party of No, Nonsense and Nothing– “Gawd’s Own party”—represented very well by the symbol of a bloated elephant—and crazily out of control with power madness is not the hope of the future as I see it. They represent something dangerous to all that I have known and held dear as an American– and they are not getting any better as time goes by.
I think power is their thing and their only thing! I think they would most likely sell their own families for a little more power and wealth if it were possible.
Cruelty seems to dominate their every action. Watch closely as they try to dismantle the American Social Security System and Medicare, endangering the lives and safety and health of millions off their fellow citizens. And for what?
So they can have millions more dollars to give their wealthy corporate cronies and friends bigger and better tax breaks and incentives.
I think it is kind of dumb and I think it is preposterous that they are so capable of getting the average person in the street to listen to their ridiculous reasoning.
I hope America wakes up pretty soon to just who these people are and what it is they are trying to siphon off the common good for themselves and their puppet masters.
I think the very survival of our beloved America depends entirely on removing the mask from the real face of modern Conservatism and revealing it for the grotesque monster it has become.
I think modern American Conservatism has become a black hole swirling through the lives of every citizen, ready to suck the very essence of America’s soul into oblivion and I think the people are blinded by the adder-like gyrations of the political snake that weaves it’s hypnotic spell through Right Wing alternative media, poisoning everything it touches with it’s stinking venom.
But then, I am nobody but a “Godless Commie Liberal,” right?
Wake up America! Evil walks among us and it’s name is Far Right Wing Extremest Conservatism.
